Victor Osimhen helps Napoli go 16 points clear of Serie A table

Red hot Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen registered his 17th Serie A goal of the season in the 3-0 home win over Cremonese on Sunday to open up a 16 points gap atop league log.

The Super Eagles’ forward tapped home from close range shortly after the restart to double Napoli’s lead after birthday boy Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had opened the goal book midway through the first half.

Substitute Eljif Elmas took the game beyond reach for the visitors with the third goal to send the fans at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona  into frenzy.

The result set the Gil Azurri on a six consecutive league wins with a yearning gap at the top.

Osimhen’s goal has also confirmed him as the second hottest striker in the world after Manchester City’s Erling Haaland who have scored highest number of non-penalty goals this season and has also scored in six consecutive Serie A outings.

Luciano Spalletti side also used the match as revenge after his side were knocked out of the Coppa Italia last month by Cremonese who are still languishing at the bottom of Serie A and in search of their first league win.
