Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen scored twice in the spate of five minutes in their 3-0 bashing of Spezia to further stretched Napoli’s lead on top of Serie A table and hitching towards their first Serie A title since 1990.
The Super Eagles’ forward who is not relenting on winning the Scudetto with Napoli is also not looking back to win the top scorer gong as his two goals on Sunday stretched his season’s tally to 16.
The first half of the game ended goaless as both sides were lackluster in their approach for most part of it.
The duel came alive with just two minutes into restart and it was Napoli who were gifted a chance to take the lead when Arkadiusz Reca handled in the area.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia converted the spot kick for his eighth goal of the league campaign.
The would then be followed by two goals from Osimhen with first of them saw him latched onto a miscued Ethan Ampadu clearance in the box to leap higher than Spezia goalkeeper Bartłomiej Drągowski to head home Napoli’s second of the day.
Another defensive gaffe handed the Super Eagles striker his second of the afternoon as Kvaratskhelia unselfishly squared for the Nigerian to double his tally.
With Napoli already looked certain of match points, Coach Luciano Spalletti could not allow Osimhen to get his hat trick as he withdrew the former Lille forward after their cushion to second place was extended.
Spezia may have their five points off the drop zone reduced before the end of match week, something that will be the concern for the club with the remaining games to see out the season.
