By Monsurah Olatunji

Newly crowned African Best Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen, presented his CAF award plaque to the Napoli fans.
The 24-year-old accompanied by his girlfriend and daughter took a photo while presenting the prestigious CAF POTY award as Napoli welcomed Cagliari to the Diego Maradona Stadium on Saturday night.
The Serie A Golden Boot holder missed the chance to present the award during their match against Braga but he made sure to share the honor with the home fans.

The Super Eagles goal poacher beats competition from Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakim, following his incredible form that led Napoli to its first Scudetto title in 33 years.
Osimhen, who is now the first Nigerian to win the award in almost two-and-a-half decades, was in outstanding form throughout 2023.
The Nigeria international became the first African to be named best striker in the league’s 125-year history.
With his 26 league goals, he also became the first-ever African to win Capocannonie (Golden Boot). He was also named best player for the 2022/23 Serie A season at the Gran Gala Del Calcio.
Osimhen also clinched the 8th spot in this year’s Ballon door rankings, making history as the first Nigerian in the top ten, breaking Nwankwo Kanu’s 11th position record in 1997.
The Nigerian red-hot striker has also been nominated for more prestigious awards such as the Globe Soccer Award, FIFA The Best award, and IFFHS Award, among others.
However, he wrapped up the celebratory night with a goal and an assist as the defending champions defeated their visitors 2-1.
