Red-hot historic Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has revealed his source of inspiration and pre-match rituals.
The 24-year-old bagged 26 league goals to help Napoli win its first Scudetto in 33 years and become the first African player to win the league’s Golden Boot award.
The Napoli striker is also the top scorer with 7 goals in the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers bringing his international record to 17 and has now surpassed Samson Siasia, Ahmed Musa, and Odion Ighalo in Nigeria’s all-time top scorers chart.
And the Napoli striker admitted that Olamide’s rap music prepares him for matches and ginger his hunger in front of goal, while stressing that he approaches every bout with the idea of going to war with inspiration from rap music.
“First of all, after lunch, like my spare time, when we are relaxing, like two or three hours before the final meeting to go to the stadium, I listen to Olamide’s rap [songs],” Osimhen told Pooja Media.
“There’s some kind of rap he has done in recent years that is really inspirational to me.
“Olamide is my best musician in Nigeria. And I have this playlist that I use to go to listen to his songs.
“And after everything, when we are in the bus, I used to listen to Nas and Damian Marley’s ‘Only the Strong Survive’.
“So, when I listen to these songs, I always put in my head that I’m going to war.
“Everything I’m playing, I’m going to war, that I’m going there to die, or someone is going to die. ‘Only the Strong Survive’ means I want to win; I don’t want to lose.”
