Victor Osimhen smashes Samuel Eto’o feat, equals George Weah’s Serie A record

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has written his name into the Serie A history books after scoring his 22nd goal of the season to help Napoli clinch the league title.
The Azzurri came into the game needing only a draw to be crowned Italian champions but found themselves behind in the 13th minute after Sandi Lovric put the hosts in front.
The 24-year-old netted a title-sealing equalizer for Napoli in the 52nd minute.
The goal was not just historic for winning Napoli its first Scusetto in 33 years but it also means that the Nigeria striker has matched a Serie A record that has stood for 23 years.
Osimhen became the highest-scoring African player in a single Serie A season as his goal eclipsed Samuel Eto’o’s record of 21 goals set in the 2010/11 season when the Cameroonian striker played with Inter.
Not satisfied with one record, in netting against the White and Blacks, Osimhen has also equaled a feat only achieved by the only African to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, George Weah with 46 goals to become the African player with the most Serie A goals of all time.
The now Liberian President attained that mark in 2000 during his time at Italian giants AC Milan. While the 1995 Ballon d’Or winner recorded his mark in 114 matches, the Nigerian attained his Italian mark in just 81 appearances.
