Victor Osimhen to battle Messi, Ronaldo, others for Globe Soccer Award

Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen has been nominated alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for this year’s Best Men’s Player prize at the Globe Soccer Awards.
The Super Eagles star won the Emerging Player of the Year honor at the event last year and is one of the 30 players nominated for this year’s award.
With his 26 league goals, the striker led Napoli to their first Serie A title since 1990 and won the Capocannoniere award and the league’s best striker award.
The former Lille player also scored another six goals in the UEFA Champions League last season as Napoli reached its first quarter-finals.
On the international scene, Osimhen finished as the top scorer in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers with ten goals.
His all-around fantastic performance earned him an eight-placed finish at the Ballon d’Or award as the only African in the top 10 and also a nomination for the FIFA The Best award.
However, he faces tough opposition from two of the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) for the award slated for January 19, 2024, in Dubai.
The icons headline a 30-man list, which also includes the likes of Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Rodri, Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Andre Onana, Nicolo Barella, and Robert Lewandowski.
Others are Vinicius Jnr, Karim Benzema, Jude Bellingham, Antoine Griezmann, Kevin De Bruyne, Luka Modric, Mohamed Salah, Ederson, Kim Min-Jae, Jack Grealish, Yassine Bounou, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaar.
While Karim Benzema is the current holder of the award, Cristiano Ronaldo has won it the most times (6).
