One of Victor Osimhen’s goals against Frankfurt has been crowned the UEFA Champions League’s Goal of the Week.
The Nigerian striker was on target twice for Napoli against Frankfurt in the second leg of their UCL round of 16 tie and was named Man of the Match as a result of his outstanding contribution.
The 24-year-old scored the 22nd goal of the season for the Parthenopeans by rising to head in a cross from Matteo Politano.
The goal beats all five of Erling Haaland’s goals, as well as Kevin De Bruyne’s screamer and Karim Benzema’s goal against Liverpool, to win the award.
For their quarterfinal matches, the Nigerian team will face off against Serie A opponent AC Milan and will face either Inter Milan or Benfica if they reach the semifinals.
He is anticipated to keep up his goal-scoring streak as there could be more to celebrate for him at the end of the season.
Osimhen’s Napoli currently top the Serie A standings with 18 points, and the Lagos-born striker is five goals clear at the top of the scorer’s chart.
