Former Nigerian international Fatai Amoo has urged the Super Eagles to avoid complacency and not underestimate Zimbabwe ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.
Eric Chelle’s side will be looking to build on their 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, but Amoo emphasized the need for the team to maintain focus and approach the Zimbabwe game with a strong, winning mentality.
“The coach must continue with the approach he used in the first game that earned us maximum points against Rwanda,” Amoo said in an interview with Completesports.com.
“However, the team must not rest on their laurels when facing Zimbabwe in Uyo. They must treat Zimbabwe like any top country in the world, approaching the match with the same intensity.”
Amoo stressed the importance of securing all three points, citing the competitiveness of other teams in the group.
“The maximum points are all that matters because South Africa and Benin are not resting,” he added.
The match will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo at 5:00 PM local time, and the Super Eagles will need to approach it with full focus if they are to keep their World Cup dreams alive.
