Vincent Enyeama Poised to Join Angers SCO in January Transfer Window

Vincent Enyeama, former captain of the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, is on the verge of joining struggling French club Angers SCO when the January transfer window opens, according to reports from Completesportsnigeria.com. Enyeama, who recently made a comeback for Lille’s U-18s in a French fourth-tier division game after a seven-month absence due to a knee injury, is expected to replace Angers SCO’s second-choice goalkeeper Mathieu Michel, who is nearing a return to Ligue 2 side Nimes Olympique.

A report on the French website Sportune.fr suggests that Angers SCO will need to spend between €500,000 and €1m to secure Enyeama’s services, as the goalkeeper still has 18 months remaining on his current contract with Lille. This potential move could reignite calls for Enyeama’s return to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, as the current goalkeeping options of Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, and Francis Uzoho have failed to inspire confidence.

Angers SCO currently finds itself in a precarious 19th position in the Ligue 1 table, having accumulated only 18 points from 19 games. The addition of Enyeama’s experience and skillset could prove to be a significant boost for the struggling side.

If the deal is finalized, Angers SCO will become the third European club that the 35-year-old goalkeeper has represented since his move from Heartland FC to Bnei Yehuda in 2005. Enyeama retired from international football in 2015 after a dispute with the then Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh.

The potential transfer of Enyeama to Angers SCO has generated considerable excitement among football fans, who are eager to witness his return to top-flight action. With his wealth of experience and proven abilities, Enyeama could play a crucial role in helping Angers SCO climb the Ligue 1 table and secure their status in the league. As the January transfer window draws nearer, football enthusiasts eagerly await the official confirmation of this highly anticipated move.
