Vivian Ikechukwu completes switch to another Mexican side

Nigeria forward, Vivian Ikechukwu has completed her switch to Santa Laguna from another Mexican side, Cruz Azul.

After 10 league games with Cruz Azul, the former Rivers Angels player moved to another Mexican club.

Staying with the likes of Chinwendu Ihezuo and Osinachi Ohale (Pachuca) in Mexico, Vivian is elated to remain in the country.

Upon her unveiling, Ikechukwu spoke with the new club Media about the move.

“I felt very happy as I am going to become a warrior because I will be joining the warriors,” She said.

“I love the fact that Mexico is well communicated. I love the fact that they speak Spanish because I love the language.”

The Osodi, Lagos State-born player featured for Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side Rivers Angels before moving to Lithuania side FC Gintra.

From FC Gintra, the Super Falcons player joined the Turkish side Besiktas, where she scored eight goals in the league at the end of the 2023/2024 season.

With the national team, she was part of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
