Nigeria’s senior women’s national team secured a 5-0 win over their Zambian counterpart in the quarter final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco on Friday.

An impressive first half display which produced three goals set the pace for a comprehensive victory against the Copper Queens.

Osinachi Ohale headed home Esther Okoronkwo’s free kick in the second minute of play to open scoring for the Super Falcons at the Stade Larbi Zaouli, Casablanca.

Okoronkwo doubled the lead for the nine time African champions in the 33rd minute as the Southern African side failed to clear Chiamaka Nnadozie’s pull out.

Chinwendu Ihezuo made it 3-0 in the 45th minute to complete a dominant first half display.

In the 68th minute, Tosin Demehin scored her first ever goal for Nigeria with a header.

The goals didn’t dry up for Justine Madugu’s side as Folashade Ijamilusi converted the fifth goal in the additional minutes of the second half.

The team has scored eight goals without conceding in four games.

Up next is a semi final clash with either holders South Africa or Senegal in the semi final on Tuesday.
