In a heartwarming show of unity and support, six Super players of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team have jointly donated a total of ₦24 million to the newly crowned champions of Africa, the Super Falcons, following their historic victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The generous contributors include Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, alongside Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, and Joseph Aribo.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the gesture on Monday, describing it as a “significant mark of appreciation and solidarity” from the senior men’s national team to their female counterparts.

The Super Falcons claimed a record-extending 10th WAFCON title on Saturday night after an extraordinary 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco at the Stade Olympique in Rabat.

The victorious squad arrived in Abuja on Monday afternoon and received a rousing reception, including an official presidential welcome at the State House in Aso Rock.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu honoured the Super Falcons with a National Award (OON) for all 24 players, a three-bedroom apartment for each team member, and a cash reward of $100,000 per player.

In addition, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum presented an extra ₦10 million to the team, further cementing their status as national heroes.

The Super Eagles’ donation underscores a growing camaraderie between Nigeria’s national teams and adds to the celebratory momentum as the Super Falcons continue their trophy parade through the streets of Abuja.
