WAFU-B confirm Edo Queens CAF Women’s Champions League opponents

Ahead of next month’s West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League, the regional football governing body confirmed the seven teams that will be taking part in the tournament.

Host FC Inter D’Abidjan will be joined by neighbours Hasaacas Ladies (Ghana) and Ao Etincelle Du Burkina Faso.

Nigeria champions, Edo Queens and neighbours Ainonvi FC (Benin Republic) and AS GNN (Niger Republic) will also feature in the fourth edition of the competition.

ASKO from Togo completes the seven teams for the competition and will determine the zone’a representative at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The tournament will take place from August 10 to 24, 2024 in Cote D’Ivoire.

Ghana and Nigeria has produced the previous winners of the tournament.

In 2021 when the maiden edition took place in Cote D’Ivoire, Hasaacas Ladies defeated Rivers Angels (Nigeria) in the final with both teams making it to the main tournament.

Cote D’Ivoire also staged the second edition where Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria) beat Ampem Darkoa (Ghana) in the final match in 2022.

Last year, Ampem Darkoa edged another Nigerian side, Delta Queens 1-0 in the final match hosted in Benin City, Edo State capital, Nigeria.
