WAFU-B U17 Championship: Golden Eaglets ready for Benin Republic tricky test

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets are set to kick off their campaign for another title when they face Benin Republic in Yamoussoukro on Tuesday in the opening fixture at the WAFU-B U17 Championship which will take place at the Stade du Lycée Scientifique.

The tournament, staged in the Ivorian capital, serves as the qualifying competition for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations scheduled for next year.

From there, Africa’s representatives at the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar will be determined.

Group A action began over the weekend with hosts Côte d’Ivoire defeating Niger Republic 2-0 while Togo and Ghana battled to a 1-1 draw. In Group B.

Burkina Faso’s Baby Stallions secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Benin Republic on Sunday in what was the first fixture of their three-team pool. Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Niger Republic make up the quartet in Group A.
