Wafu-B U20 Cup: Ibrahim Gusau bemoans Flying Eagles poor start

By Saheed Afolabi
Ibrahim Gusau, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has expressed his disappointment with the Flying Eagles’ poor start at the Wafu B U20 Cup.
The Nigerian team began their title defense with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Burkina Faso, prompting Gusau to issue a stern warning to both players and the coaching staff.
Gusau emphasized the importance of qualifying for the U20 AFCON, stating that anything less would be considered a disaster given the high expectations placed on the team.
“I am not happy about the result. We expected a win and the three points, particularly as they are in a three-team group which can be delicate,” he said.
He urged the coaches and players to regroup and strategize for their upcoming match against Ivory Coast, stressing that Nigerians have significant hopes for the team.
“As defending champions, it will not be good for us not to qualify for the U20 AFCON, having reached the quarter-finals at the FIFA World Cup last year,” Gusau added.
With the pressure on, the Flying Eagles will need to rise to the occasion in their next encounter to keep their championship hopes alive.
