WAFU-B WCL: Delta Queens come out stronger against Ampem Darkoa – Taiwo Afolabi

Delta Queens captain, Taiwo Afolabi has revealed that the club will be stronger against Ampem Darkoa of Ghana in the final of the 2023 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League in Benin City.
The Pearls conceded for the first time against Athletico FC but had to reassemble themselves to snatch up victory over the Ivorian champions in the extra time as Afolabi notched a goal in the 3-2 semi-final triumph.
The Delta Queens skipper, who also emerged the Player of the Match  Afolabi lauded her teammates for their spirited comeback display, while praising the support and motivation from the Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shaibu and Delta State Sports Commission chairman Chief Tonobok Okowa.
“I am grateful to Almighty Allah for giving me the chance to score the winning goal for my team and a very big thank you to my teammates for coming out strong to equalise and win the match,” she told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“I dedicate the goal to all my teammates. Also a very big thank you to the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Honorable Philip Shaibu, and our father Chief Tonobok Okowa for their moral support.
“Expect good football and victory in the final match. In our next game, we will come out stronger.
“The feeling in the second half was to come all out for victory. Determination comes first before financial gains and motivations.”
Taiwo will lead Delta Queens in their race to pick the sole ticket in the Wafu B to the CAF Champions League in Ivory Coast.
