Waldrum outburst: Ngozi Okobi threatens legal action on fake news peddlers

Nigeria’s 2023 Women’s World Cup outcast, Ngozi Okobi has threatened some media outlets spreading quotes not attributed to her in the wake of her exclusion from the national team squad to the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The former Levante Las Planas star was excluded from the Super Falcons’ final roster to partake in the World Cup despite her fine display at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Last Thursday, head coach Randy Waldrum had fired an attack on the Nigeria Football Federation, accusing his employers of frustrating his team’s preparations, interference and more.
However, the 29-year-old was quoted to have latched out on the American coach – a development the midfielder has swiftly denied, while cautioning the media against misquoting her.
”I have not and will not make any public statements on the Women’s World Cup squad team, until a final decision, which is irreversible, has been taken. In the light of the above, I advise whoever peddling such falsehood to desist or be ready to face legal actions,” Okobi wrote on Twitter.
The Omission of Okobi’s name from the Super Falcons squad to the World Cup came as a rude shock to football enthusiasts because the duo of Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimatu Ayinde will miss the opener against Canada due to card accumulated.
Nigeria will begin their campaign at the world cup against Canada on the 21st of July at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Australia.
