Walter Mazzarri: Victor Osimhen gets new coach at Napoli after Garcia exit

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen will be returning from the international break to begin life under newly appointed manager Walter Mazzarri.

This comes after the Partenopei sacked their underperformed manager, Rudi Garcia just three months into his two-year contract tand have replaced him with experienced manager in Mazzarri.

The Italian coach will be in charge of Napoli till the end of current season. Napoli won their first ever Serie A title last season after over 30 years’ wait with Luciano Spalletti in charge.

Under Spalletti, players like Osimhen and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia find their rhythm as both were involved in over 50 goals to help Napoli win the Scudetto.

The Italian manager would soon leave his post after last season as he decided to go on sabbatical before he agreed to take up the Azurri top job.

Rudi Garcia was employed to replace Spalletti but the Frenchman has not been able to sustain the club’s sparkling form leaving them fourth on the log with 10 points gap to the league leaders, Inter Milan.

Napoli president, Aurellio De Laurentis could not accept the poor run any longer and parted ways with Garcia on Monday.

Mazzari is expected to turn the club’s fortune around using his experience in the league haven previously managed top clubs in the league including Inter Milan, Fiorentina among others.
