WCQ: South Africa coach confident of pipping Nigeria to World Cup ticket

Head coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos is confident his side could defeat Nigeria to the lone 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket.
The last time South Africa played the World Cup was when they hosted it in 2020, where Spain won the tournament by defeating Netherlands in the final.
Broos admitted winning the away ties will be crucial to Bafana quest for a World Cup ticket and he believes the progress South Africa has achieved over the years stroll to the mundial.
“The away games will be very important in a group like ours, but now a little bit more because we have five difficult away games for different reasons,” the tactician was quoted by Complete Sports.
“I think it is possible for South Africa to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup first in the group.
“If you see the progress we have made in the last two years, you cannot compare those qualifiers (for the 2026 World Cup) with the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“We are better now, we have a better team now. So okay, I am confident.”
South Africa will renew their rivalry with the Super Eagles when they faceoff in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Banyana Banyana will trade tackles with Lesotho, Rwanda, Zimbabwe Benin Republic, Lesotho and Nigeria.
