“We are not the first to lose at home” – Kabiru Dogo plays down Kwara United defeat

By Wale Mustapha
Embattled Kwara United’s Technical Adviser, Kabir Dogo has refused to be distracted by critics following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Lobi Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League match in Ilorin on Sunday.
The fortunes of the Harmony Boys in the ongoing NPFL season suffered a huge setback following a dramatic home loss to their North Central neighbours from Makurdi.
Dogo’s side needed to win, especially on the backdrop of the three match ultimatum given to the coaching crew, but the team’s performances was far below expectations, leaving the visiting team to take the full advantage.
The goals were scored in the first half, with the first an own goal in the 20th minute, and the second, in the the 41st minute, also from a defensive error, leaving Stanley Oganbor smashing the ball into the next.
Kwara United could have scored from a spot kick in the second half when Emmanuel Ogbole was fouled in the box, but Paul Samson could not convert the penalty as goalkeeper Lucky Jimoh guessed right to pull off a great save.
However, a disappointed former Lobi Stars manager believes the defeat was a reflection of the club’s myraid of challenges, while assuring they will bounce back and better.
“It’s football, we are not the first team to have lose at home this season,” Dogo told media after the match.
“I believe we could have had a turn around had it been we scored the penalty, that’s painful and I’m disappointed but we have move on.
“I don’t want to comment on Kwara United’s predicaments now, with time, Kwarans will know what the problems are.”
Kwara United are now 14th on the log from 17 games with 19 points to show.
