“We can do it this time” – Nwabali confident of Nigeria’s 2025 AFCON title chances

By Wale Mustapha

Nigeria midfielder Stanley Nwabali has expressed confidence that Nigeria can clinch the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Morocco.

Nigeria will be aiming for a fourth AFCON crown, having narrowly missed out on the previous edition in Ivory Coast, where they lost 2–1 in the final.

Speaking to SuperSport TV, Nwabali emphasized the team’s determination and the quality within the squad.

“As a big nation, we are always expected to win, not just to participate,” Nwabali said.

“Playing the final last year, I feel this year we are going to win it. With the quality we have, I believe we can do it this time.”

The Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles, Tanzania’s Taifa Stars, and Uganda’s Cranes.

Nigeria will open their campaign against Tanzania on Tuesday, 23 December at the Complex Sportif De Fes.
