Rivers United’s Technical Adviser, Finidi George , believes his side deserved to secure all three points following their goalless draw against Katsina United on Sunday in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Six clash.

The match, held at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium in Katsina, ended in a stalemate, marking the sixth unbeaten game for the Port Harcourt-based side under Finidi.

Despite the draw, the former Super Eagles coach praised his players for their resilience, stating that they had a solid performance, particularly under pressure.

“We created one clear chance in the second half, but unfortunately, it didn’t materialize,” George said after the match.

“Considering the way we played in both halves, I’d say we deserved to win. However, football is unpredictable, and especially in away games, I believe one point is well-deserved.”

Finidi acknowledged that while he wanted the full three points, he understood the challenges of playing away, particularly in a tough environment like Katsina.

“I won’t ask for more. It’s difficult to come here and earn a point, so we are happy with it,” he added.

Looking forward to their next fixture, Rivers United will face Shooting Stars on Wednesday, and Finidi emphasized the importance of recovery following their two-day journey.

“We’ll plan carefully to ensure the boys recover properly,” he said. “It’s not easy being on the road, but we’ll get them ready for Shooting Stars.”
