‘We exploited Nigeria’s weaknesses’ – Ghana coach Yusif Basigi on WAFU-B triumph
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Head coach of Ghana U-20 women’s team, Yusif Basigi had stated that the Black Princesses only exploited the weaknesses of their Nigeria counterparts to clinch the maiden WAFU-B U-20 Women’s Cup on Saturday.
Stella Nyamekye made no mistake from the spot to put the Black Princesses ahead in the 39th minute, but the two-time FIFA World Cup silver-medalists roared back to contention when Flourish Sebastine equalized with four minutes left in regulation time.

After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, the final match of the first edition of the WAFU-B U-20 Women’s Cup went down to penalties.

Black Princesses beat the high-flying Falconets which had scored 19 goals and conceded no goals ahead of the final and the Hasaacas ladies manager insists his side profited from the Falconets’ flaws to emerge champions.
“I will say that we played against a very good side,” Basigi told Brila FM.
“There is no doubt about the fact that most people thought we were underdogs for the final due to the brilliant performance of the Falconets which showed that the future is very bright for them.
“However, I think there was something we did right. We watched their games and saw one or two weaknesses that we need to take advantage of which we did which is good for the game.
“Invariably the players did their work well but on the other hand we also did otherwise. It is something good that I have achieved. The fans actually contributed greatly to this victory.”
Christopher Danjuma’s side were unlucky in the lottery of penalty shootout, losing 3-1 to Black Princesses in the final of the WAFU B U20 Women Championship in Kumasi.
