‘We made some mistakes’ – Monday Odigie explains Bendel Insurance draw at 3SC

By Wale Mustapha
Monday Odigie, technical adviser of Bendel Insurance has admitted that his Nigeria Premier Football League side made some ccostly mistakes following a 2-2 draw with Shooting Stars in Ibadan on Sunday.
The Benin Arsenals had raced into a two-goal lead at half time through strikes from Osehenkhoe Imade and Ismael Seriki at the Lekan Salami Stadium but the second half efforts of Malomo Taofeeki and Opeoluwa Olufemi ensured the Oluyole Warriors fought back to ensure a stalemate.
Despite squandering a two-goal lead, Odigie refused to be disappointed with his men as he takes consolation in the valuable point claimed against Gbenga Ogunbote’s side.
“It was a good game and as always we gave it our best, this team (Shooting Stars) have been in the NPFL before now and we have to be very cautious when we play against them, I’m happy for the result and thank God for it,” Odigie told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“No doubt we made some mistakes in the match and as always we try to correct it after every match, defensively, offensively and generally, you can’t play a team like Shooting Stars and expect to go unscathed.
“You have to work on your strength and take advantage of their weaknesses, I’m really happy we were able to resist the late pressure from them to get points.
“I didn’t promise anything before the season, as you can see, it’s a very young team but the name of of the club is very big so we are trying to do all we can to justify our return to NPFL. It’s a young team team and we hope to keep growing.”
Insurance will next face Nasarawa United on Wednesday in Benin for the Matchday Right duel in Group A.
