Head coach of Ethiopia women’s senior national team, Firew Hailegabriel has insisted that his side had to convert their chances in the return leg of the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers against their Nigerian counterparts on Tuesday.

After being held to a 1-1 draw by the Super Falcons at the Abebe Bikila Stadium, Addis Ababa on Thursday, the Lucy aims to upset the nine-time African champions in the return leg of the Second Round tie.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade’s scorching shot from the edge of the box after they cancelled the shocking Ethiopian  lead in the sixth minute of play off Uchenna Kanu’s own goal from a goalmouth scramble.

The former U20 coach lamented his players’ inability to convert all the chances, while pledging they will correct their mistakes by taking their chances in the second leg in Nigeria.

”We need to learn to take our chances that we create in front of goal and also defend well,” Hailegabriel told media.

Both teams will clash again at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, with the winner on aggregate to proceed to the third round, where the winner of the Cameroon/Uganda fixture awaits.

Uganda holds a 2-0 win over Cameroon in the first leg of their encounter ahead of the return leg in Cameroon.
