Delta Queens head coach, Tosan Blankson is optimistic about his side ending the season as the eventual champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership title without a defeat.
Delta Queens made a huge statement in their quest for the diadem with a 2-1 victory over Bayelsa Queens in Yenagoa as they ended their remarkable run in the first stanza of the NWFL Premiership raking in 16 points from six matches.
Blankson insists that the win against Cup holders was a testament to their determination to take every game like a cup final, while stressing that nothing is uhuru yet in their quest for a domestic success.
“The win against Bayelsa Queens is expected, like I said in previous interview, the Queens from Delta does not have away from home, in their matches,” he told nigeriafootball.ng.
“Every match they are playing is a Cup finals, mentality they! have built for themselves. The fine run started right from after the Super Six. The team building process is excellent. The Sheroes Cup in Abuja was all the team needed to fine tune their build up to the season.
“Like I said every match they are playing is a cup final, so losing a match in the season is like they are out of a competition. So I believe they can win the league unbeaten.”
Delta Queens have recorded five wins and a draw from six matches this season and the tactician had attributed their impressive start to the good wealth packages and prompt payment of bonuses and wages.
“The motivating factors are not far fetched. Salaries and match bonuses are 100% taken care of. I don’t think any club in the league can be motivated like the queens from Delta, all kudos goes to the Sports Commission Chairman, who also doubled as the President of AFN, Chief Tonobok Okowa.”
