‘We were just unfortunate’ – Gbenga Ogunbote demands improvement from 3SC

Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has demanded on-field improvement from the his players following Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Bendel Insurance in an Nigeria Premier Football League match in Ibadan.
The Oluyole Warriors were in search of their third win of the season but suffered a false start, having conceded two goals in the first half no thanks to strikes from Imade Osarenkhoe and Ismael Seriki at Lekan Salami Stadium.
However, the hosts bounced back in the contest as second half goals from Malomo Taofeek Ayodeji and Olufemi Opeoluwa Adeshina ensured they escape a third defeat of the season in front of their own fans.
While lamenting the early goals conceded, the Oracle as popularly called, feels his side could have done better, while reassuring fans of their quest to clinch a ticket to the Super Six tournament at the end of the regular season.
“When it was a two goal lead against us, it is not that they played better than us but we just unfortunate to concede two goals in the match,” Ogunbote told media.
“But I’m sure if we improve on our performances and solidify the unity in the squad, we are going to progress. By the grace of God, we will be at the Super Six.”
The Oluyole Warriors will face a tricky test away to Aba as they trade tackles with the Elephants in their fortress. The game will come up on the 15th of February 2023 at the Enyimba International stadium, Aba.
Shooting Stars are sixth on the NPFL abridged group A with nine points from seven matches and are eight points adrift of table toppers Bendel Insurance who are on 17 points.
