“We will cooperate” — Osimhen vows to learn from Icardi, Batshuayi, others

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has clarified that his focus at Galatasaray is on learning from experienced teammates like Mauro Icardi, rather than viewing them as competition.

Osimhen made this statement following his debut in Galatasaray’s 5-0 triumph over Caykur Rizespor on Saturday, where he registered an assist.

The 25-year-old forward, who joined the Turkish Super Lig champions on a season-long loan from Napoli this summer, is set to face strong competition for a starting role alongside Icardi, Michy Batshuayi, and Burak Yilmaz.

In an interview with Galatasaray’s media team, Osimhen expressed his enthusiasm about being part of the team and highlighted his desire to learn from the seasoned players around him.

“Icardi is a legend of this game. Batshuayi is also a deadly player. I have things to learn from them, and we will cooperate to improve each other’s quality,” Osimhen said.

“I knew that Galatasaray was a very good team before I came. I will try to contribute as much as I can. There is no competition between us and the centre forwards.”

Given the qualities of Batshuayi and Icardi, Galatasaray coach Buruk Okan may need to adjust his tactics to effectively integrate multiple top strikers into his squad.
