‘ We will get something’- Ireland star Louise Quinn promises fireworks against Nigeria
By Monsurah Olatunji

Republic of Ireland captain Louise Quinn has warned that they will do everything possible to beat Nigeria when both teams meet in the Women’s World Cup final group B match on Monday.
Although the Irish ladies have been knocked out of the tournament in Australia/New Zealand, they will like to prove a point against the Super Falcons.
Despite being a debutants, Ireland are ranked higher than Nigeria in the World FIFA rankings and hence, the Super Falcons are the underdogs coming into the game.
Nigeria has never missed any edition of the tournament but are currently ranked 40th while Ireland takes the 30th spot. Even though they have been knocked out, Ireland defender, Quinn has promised that she and her teammates will play for a victory.
“They[Nigeria] have put themselves in a brilliant position. We have seen their quality,” Quinn told BBC Sports.
“We have put in some very good performances over the past two games but there are no points on the board.
“We want to be able to look back and know we have given it our all. There has been no doubts about that.
“Everyone has done everything to make sure we can get something out of those games. It’s total pride and we’re going to give it everything.”
However, after consecutive losses to Canada and the co-hosts, Ireland were knocked out of contention for a second-round spot while Nigeria sit pretty at the top of the log.
Nigeria produced the first major shock of the Women’s World Cup as they stunned Australia 3-2 in Brisbane to leave the co-hosts’ tournament hopes on thin ice and home fans reeling.
They only need a draw to secure their spot in the round of 16, which could be jeopardized by an Irish win.
