‘Where are our referees at AFCON’ – Bendel Insurance coach laments poor officiating

Bendel Insurance head coach, Monday Odigie was left furious by the referees during their 1-0 defeat to Sporting Lagos on Sunday.

Odigie was not happy with the standard of officiating as Benin Arsenal left the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, with defeat.

Odigie raised the question of Nigerian referees’ absence during the AFCON 2023 tournament pointing out biased officiating as the cause.

“The game was lost to the goal that you saw, go and play it back,” he told Pulse Sports.

“That’s where we lost it. You saw it and that brought about the loss of concentration (from my team).

“How can in Lagos, this is happening – officiating – and nobody is talking? Nobody is talking?

 “AFCON (2023), where were Nigerian referees?”
