Dannaz Ladies coach, Fatai Bashiru is optimistic of his side securing a spot at the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six playoffs after the 4-2 bashing of Confluence Queens at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
A rampant second half display have the hosts a four-goal advantage despite the late fightback by the visitors, who forced the NWFL topflight newcomers to a 0-0 in the season opener in Edo State.
The elated Cedars gaffer blamed the lack of concentration from his side for the two goals conceded against the Kogi side as he reiterates the club’s target of playing in the Super Six playoffs.
“We have been expecting this for long, thank God it came today and we have the three points,” Bashiru told Nigeriafootball.ng exclusively.
“We have been having a lot of chances but our players aren’t converting the chances to score but we went back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes and the result is what we are seeing against Confluence Queens.
“It’s lack concentration that caused the goals conceded against Confluence Queens and it happened when the players were arguing when they made a mistake.
“From the beginning, our target is to be at the Super Six playoffs. We are not doubting of being in the top three in group A but it’s an advantage for us to win today and hopefully get an away win in our next game and seal it up with an home win.”
The Cedars in their next game will visit a hungry Naija Ratels side who are battling against the drop this season on Wednesday February 28.
