The coach of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Wikki Tourists’ Kabiru Dogo has warned the Nigeria U20 team not to get carried away by their recent fine results against topflight clubs.
Ladan Bosso’s side defeated Wikki Tourists and Lobi Stars before recording a draw against Nasarawa United and the gaffer has commended the Flying Eagles for their impressive run of form in build up to the 2023 U20 Afcon.
“Based on the results we have seen, the Flying Eagles is a team that has a future and can be relied on. They still need maximum support and encouragement,” Dogo told Brila FM.
“They still need more matches and international friendly games as well. We can’t see the best of NPFL teams since the league is not presently on.”
Bosso-tutored team beat Wikki Tourists 2-0 with goals from Olamilekan Adams and Olusegun Otusanya stamping the win for the seven-time African champions.
The win against Lobi Stars was the eighth game the Flying Eagles had played (with seven wins and a draw) since the team opened camp on 28th November.
The team is now on a two-week recess and are expected to resume camp in the first week of January for the final phase of preparations ahead of the Final Tournament of the Africa U20 in Egypt.
