Women’s Federation Cup Rd of 16 Wrap: Lakeside Queens boot out Heartland Queens

Lakeside Queens pulled of the surprise of the Round of 16 as they were stunned by top-flight Premiership outfit, Heartland on penalties on Wednesday.

Both sides ended the encounter at 0-0 after regulation time before Nigeria Women’s Football Federation Championssecured a 4-2 win on penalties to guarantee a place in the quarterfinal.

Elsewhere, Edo Queens thrashed Maureen Madu 5-0 with Alice Ogebe and Omotoke Odueke finding the back of the net.

Fortress Ladies edged Honey Badgers 2-1 to also reach the last eight, Nasarawa Amazons pipped fellow NWFL Premiership side, Naija Ratels 2-1.

Blessing Okpe’s 67th-minute strike handed Rivers Angels a 1-0 win over Osun Babes, while Delta Queens pummeled Moje Queens 7-0 in the highest margin of the round.

Robo Queens are also through to the quarter-final as Royal Queens failed to show up in Awka.
