Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has hosted the senior women’s national team at the Aso Villa with three players present on Monday.

The trio of goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi, midfielder Christy Ucheibe, and captain Onome Ebi, were present as the former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria hosted the gallant Super Falcons.

Five members of the team’s backroom and technical staffs also attended the meeting with the First Lady.

They were joined by three officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) comprising of President, Alhaji Musa Gusau, First Vice President, Felix Anyasi Agwu, and the General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

The ocassion arranged by the First Lady is aimed at appreciating the wonderful display of skills, artistry, and determination of the players at the tournament Down Under, where they reached the Round of 16.
The Super Falcons crashed out of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, having lost through penalties to the English team, the Lionesses last Monday, August 7.

The First Lady last week held a similar meeting with the Nigeria female basketball team, D’Tigresses.

The Super Falcons went through the group stage unbeaten, for the first time in their history of participating in the competition, and kept three clean sheets from four games; had they been a tad more adventurous in the final group game against Ireland, they could have won that fixture and topped the group ahead of tournament co-hosts Australia.

The gallant display of the team has earned the respect and admiration of football fans.
