Udeze has faulted the provisional roster released by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle.
Chelle released a 39-man provisional squad list for this month’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers double header against Uganda and Zimbabwe on Tuesday.
Udeze said the composition of 39 players is too much for the team within the time frame.
“There are better ways to go about it, but 39 is too much; this is not the time to know everybody,” Udeze said on Brila FM.
The Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup star questioned the invitation to certain players.
“I don’t know why some players made the list; during my time in the Super Eagles, I never saw this kind of invitation. This is not the time to gamble or to experiment.”
Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Adeleye Adebayo; defenders William Ekong, Calvin Bassey, and Olaoluwa Aina; midfielders Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi; and forwards Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, and Simon Moses made the squad.
The roster also includes Maduka Okoye, defenders Bruno Onyemaechi and Zaidu Sanusi, midfielders Frank Onyeka and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and forwards Ahmed Musa, Samuel Chukwueze and Sadiq Umar.
