WSL: Ashleigh Plumptre’s superb header boost Leicester City survival hopes

Nigeria international Ashleigh Plumptre was on target as the Foxes registered a record-breaking 4-0 victory against Liverpool in the English Women’s Super League game.
The Super Falcons defender made her 17th start to the season for Matt Beard’s side and finally celebrated her first goal of the campaign.
Leicester bounced back to winning ways with a thrashing of Liverpool to end their four-game winless streak.
A commanding display from the Nigerian who put in a great shift to keep a clean sheet and found the back of the net.
The 24-year-old landed a bullet header from Courtney Nevin’s corner kick to put Leicester three goals up in the 48th minute.
It was the first goal for Plumptre this season since she returned from injury and will aim to build on the momentum when Leicester City travels to face Arsenal in their next league fixture scheduled for Friday, May 5, 2023.
Josephine Green slot home a pass from Remy Siemsen to put Leicester City in front as early as the 15th minute.
Carrie Jones added a second as the Foxes went to the halftime break with a two-goal lead in the 21st minute.
Plumptre opened the second half scoring before Deearna Goodwin wrap up the game in additional time.
Saturday’s massive win sees the Foxes climb to 10th in the WSL standings, two points ahead of Reading, who now sit in bottom place.
