14 goals in 19 games! Vivian Ikechukwu recounts successful debut season in Europe

Nigeria international and Gintra FC forward, Vivian Ikechukwu has expressed her delight after a successful season with her Lithuanian Spark Energy Women’s A-League side.
The former Rivers Angels player, who completed her professional move to the European nation in March, inspired the University outfit to a successful title defence and Uefa Women’s Champions League berth.
The 25-year-old forward, who scored 14 goals with 14 assists in 19 appearnaces to guarantee Gintra FC’s 21st domestic crown opened up on her successful maiden campaign in the Lithuanian league.
“I feel great and mission accomplished because I wanted to be part of the team’s history and help them to achieve continued success,” Ikechukwu, who made her maiden Champions League debut in August, told nigeriafootball.ng.
“We have a lot of foreign players in the team from a different continent and a well-sound coach, that actually helped the team to have a fine campaign this season.”
Ikechukwu and Damilola Koku joined Gintra FC from Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side, Rivers Angels after winning the Nigerian title and representing the country at the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021.
The Nigerian duo has formed a fantastic combination in front of goal for the Lithuanian giants, contributing 24 goals  and continued to enjoy an incredible relationship on and off the pitch.
“It was so easy to achieve this with koku cos we have been playing together as teammates for a very long time and our combination in the team actually yielded a lot of success,” Ikechukwu admits.
When asked about her future plans, the Super Falcons forward, who made her Women’s Africa Cup of Nations debut in Morocco in July, is mute about their possible next move while vowing to remain at her best.
“Confidential for now because I really don’t know what the future has in stock for me, as a player but I will always want more and a more higher standard to help in building, improving my game, and win more laurels too.”
