By Wale Mustapha
Nigerian goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie has emerged the best African Women Goalkeeper of the Year 2023 at the CAF Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday night.
The Super Falcons’ first choice goalkeeper beats South Africa’s Andile Dlamini and Morocco’s Khadija Errmichi to the CAF top prize in the women’s goalkeeper category.
Nnadozie was excellent for both club and country in the year under review with her heroic saves.
The young shot stopper was instrumental to Super Falcons’ incredible feat at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where Nigeria reached the second round before losing to England on penalties.
The former Rivers Angels’ goalkeeper was also at the thick of events for her French club side, Paris FC leading them to group stage of UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Her victory at the CAF Awards boosts the honors for Nigeria at the ceremony after the Super Falcons won the Women’s National Team of the Year following Women’s World Cup feat last summer.
