2023 NBSL MD5 Wrap: Fishers win Kebbi derby as Nmanko Patigi make winning return

The 2023 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) reached Matchday five on Sunday with three games in Kaduna State.
The high-profile game of the day took place between maiden league Champions, Kebbi BSC, and debutant, Kebbi United tagged “Kebbi Derby” which was settled on penalties.
Kebbi United BSC took a 2-0 lead heading into the third period thanks to goals from Umar Sadiq and Ibrahim Malami.
A resurgent Kebbi Fishers scored two goals in the third period from Hassan Muhammed and Badmus Fuad to take the game into extra time.
With a 2-2 scoreline after extra time, the game entered penalties where Kebbi BSC emerged victorious 4-1 and remained the only team without a loss after five games.
Meanwhile, Nmanko Patigi BSC recovered from a previous 3-2 loss to host, Kada BSC with a 3-2 win over debutant, Ibom BSC.
Azeez Lawal’s brace gave the Kwara State base team a 2-0 lead with Sani Hassan’s brace for Ibom BSC almost taking the game into extra time.
Blessing Elijah’s long-range strike sealed a 3-2 win for Nmanko Patigi BSC.
Moreso, Kada BSC walked over Smart City BSC and will next face Ibom BSC on Sunday.
Nmanko Patigi BSC will trade tackles with Kebbi United BSC in the first game of the day.
Phase 2 of the league will take place in Lagos where the league winners will emerge.
