2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Flamingos to face Central Africa or Mauritius

Nigeria U-17 girls will start their quest to qualify for the 2024 FIFA U-17 World Cup from the second round in February 2024.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday conducted the draw for the African Qualifiers for the next FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Bankole Olowookere’s side will face either Central Africa Republic (CAR) or Mauritius in the second round.
Mauritius and Central Africa Republic will square up in the first round with the winner facing last year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup bronze medalist.
The West African side equaled Ghana’s feat at last year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.  defeated Germany on penalties in the third-place match in India to win the bronze medal.
The Flamingoes have been to every edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup missing only the 2018 edition.
Before the 2022 edition, they have only gotten as far as the quarterfinals in the 2010, 2012, and 2014 editions respectively.
The team broke the jinx in 2022 by defeating the United States of America (USA) in the quarterfinals via penalties after an entertaining and tightly-closed contest during regulation time which ended 1-1.
