Mbwas Mangut Confident as Nasarawa United Regroup for Final NPFL Push

Nasarawa United head coach and technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness as they approach the final five matchweeks of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Currently sitting fifth on the table with 50 points, Nasarawa United remain firmly in contention, trailing league leaders Rangers by just five points. The Solid Miners will travel to the Northeast this Sunday for a crucial encounter against El-Kanemi Warriors as they look to strengthen their push for a continental ticket or even a late title charge.

Speaking during a meeting with the club’s management following a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to bottom-placed Kun Khalifat FC, Mangut reassured stakeholders of the team’s determination to bounce back strongly.

“As we enter the final five games of the season, I wish to assure you that we have summoned the resilience that has defined our club’s storied history,” Mangut said.

“The time for reckoning is upon us; we will rise to the occasion and ensure that the remaining part of our campaign concludes on a note of dignity and competitiveness.”

The coach emphasized that the team is actively working behind the scenes to correct recent shortcomings, while also calling for continued support from fans.

“Let me assure our dedicated and loyal supporters and fans across the globe that we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to address the issues that have led to our recent predicament.

“No doubt, your support remains our greatest strength, and we ask that you continue to stand by us as we navigate these challenging times.”

Mangut reiterated the team’s ambition to secure a continental spot and possibly challenge for the NPFL title, stressing that the squad has refocused and recommitted itself for the decisive run-in.

“We are regrouping, reassessing and recommitting ourselves to the pursuit of a continental ticket, and possibly lay our hands on the NPFL trophy,” he added.

Despite the setback against Kun Khalifat FC, Mangut insisted that the result will not define their season, assuring that his players are motivated to finish strongly.

“How we end the season shouldn’t be defined by a single result because we have resolved to rise and fight, and emerge stronger from the ashes of previous defeats,” he said.
