The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has organized an international friendly match for the U17 Women’s team, the Flamingos, against Mexico.
This friendly is set to occur before the U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
The Flamingos secured their place in the U17 World Cup by defeating Liberia in their final qualifying match. Nigeria has been drawn into Group A of the tournament, alongside New Zealand, Ecuador, and the host nation, the Dominican Republic.
Under the guidance of coach Bankole Olowookere, the Flamingos previously claimed third place at the last U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup in India by defeating Germany in the third-place match. Throughout the qualifying series, Nigeria demonstrated impressive form, scoring 25 goals and conceding only two against Burkina Faso and Liberia.
The Flamingos will kick off their World Cup campaign against New Zealand on October 16 at the Cibao Stadium. This friendly against Mexico will serve as crucial preparation for the team as they aim for success on the global stage.
