Moses Simon has attributed the Super Eagles’ impressive unbeaten run in open play to the tactical discipline instilled by head coach Eric Chelle.
Nigeria continued their strong form with a 2–1 victory over the Iran national football team in a four-nation invitational tournament in Turkey. Simon opened the scoring, while Akor Adams played a key role in the build-up to the second goal.
Speaking after the match, Simon highlighted Chelle’s philosophy as central to the team’s consistency.
“I think it’s largely down to how we approach games under him,” he said. “The system requires everyone to be involved defensively, and when we go forward, it’s still the same team. His philosophy is that if we can’t win, then we must not lose.”
The winger stressed that discipline, work rate, and tactical awareness are essential requirements under the current setup, with players expected to meet high physical and strategic demands.
He also pointed to Chelle’s preferred diamond formation, noting that it provides a balance between attacking intent and defensive solidity, allowing multiple attacking players to operate without compromising team structure.
Nigeria will look to extend their unbeaten streak when they face the Jordan national football team in their next fixture of the tournament.
