In a momentous event at the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) headquarters, Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, found themselves drawn into Group B for the highly anticipated 2024 WAFU-B U-17 Championship.

Set to embark on their journey alongside formidable adversaries Burkina Faso, Togo, and Niger Republic, the Golden Eaglets brace themselves for a thrilling display of youthful prowess and tenacity.

Group A, meanwhile, sets the stage for a clash of titans as host nation Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, and Benin Republic vie for supremacy in a contest of regional pride and skill.

Scheduled to unfold in the vibrant setting of Ghana from May 15 to 28, 2024, the championship promises to be a spectacle of raw talent and unfettered passion, captivating football enthusiasts across the continent.

This tournament marks the inaugural challenge for Coach Manu Garba since his recent return to the helm of the Golden Eaglets, infusing the team with renewed vigor and strategic insight as they strive for excellence on the pitch.

Eyes are set not only on the coveted championship title but also on the coveted ticket to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, presenting a gateway to the prestigious FIFA U-17 World Cup and the opportunity for global acclaim.

Despite Nigeria’s absence in the last edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup under Nduka Ugbade’s tenure, their storied history as the most successful team in the tournament remains a testament to their legacy of excellence and resilience.

Yet, the challenge persists to translate this success to other levels of competition, with the U-20 team and the senior men’s national team both striving for their breakthrough moment on the global stage, setting their sights on rewriting the narrative and etching their names in football history.
