2025/26 NWFL Premiership Matchday nine previews

The final Matchday before the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership go on mid season break is headlined by derbies.

From South South derby between Rivers Angels and Edo Queens to Abia derby between Ahudiyannem Queens and Abia Angels, the Matchday promises to be tantalising.

There is also the case of another South West derby between Dannaz Ladies and Remo Stars Ladies.

Group A

Adamawa Queens vs Heartland Queens

Makwada is the venue of this clash as both sides continue their quest to move up the log.

Host, Adamawa Queens recovered from three straight losses to beat Naija Ratels 2-0 in Abuja last week.

Their visitors, Heartland Queens had on of the stand out performance of last week ending the unbeaten run of holders, Bayelsa Queens with a 3-1 win despite going behind early in the encounter.

The last two meetings between both sides ended in homes wins for either teams with Heartland Queens coming out tops 3-0 in the last encounter.
Adamawa Queens had won the home leg 2-1.

Naija Ratels vs Pacesetter Queens

For the first time in top flight history, Naija Ratels and Pacesetter Queens face off.

Both sides is yet to record any win so far after seven games.

The host have drawn two with five losses including three straight while their opponents have a drawn and six losses.

A win for either side will help theo resolve to start their journey to beat the drop.

Bayelsa Queens vs Ekiti Queens

Holders, Bayelsa Queens saw their six match winning streak ending against Heartland Queens last week.

They welcome Ekiti Queens to Yenegoa with the travelers on two straight losing streaks.

The Prosperity Girls have won the last two league head-to-head meetings 3-0 on aggregate during 2023/24 season.

Rivers Angels vs Edo Queens

Two form teams from South South part of the country meet here with bragging rights and ambitions at stake in Port Harcourt.

Both sides have similar league form of six wins and a loss with those setbacks coming against leaders, Bayelsa Queens.

Historically, Rivers Angels have the upper hand with three wins from the last seven league games while Edo Queens could only record a win and the other three matches ending in draws.

During the last Super Six when both sides last met, they were separated as the encounter ended in a 1-1 draw in Ikenne.

Group B

Confluence Queens vs Sunshine Queens

With similar form in view, Sunshine Queens visit Confluence Queens aiming to secure their third win of the campaign after a impressive result last week.

The Akure based side ended Nasarawa Amazons unbeaten run with a 1-0 win.

For Confluence Queens, a win, two draws, and five losses accounted for a lacklustre results this season.

Last week’s 5-1 loss to debutant, Ahudiyannem Queens ended their ended their brief two match unbeaten streak.

The last league meeting ended 2-0 in favour of Sunshine Queens in Akure during 2020/21 season.

Ahudiyannem Queens vs Abia Angels

Neighbors from the same state face off here as they continue their quest to move up the table.

The first Abia derby in the top flight sees debutant, Ahudiyannem Queens against Abia Angels.

Ahudiyannem Queens waited for eight games before picking their first ever win of the campaign 5-1 against Confluence Queens last week.

They are in good form ahead of this clash against a side which also beat Dannaz Ladies 2-0 in the same venue last week.

Abia Angels have won their last two matches and are favorite for this clash.

Nasarawa Amazons vs FC Robo Queens

After having their unbeaten start to the season coming to an end against Heartland Queens last week, Nasarawa Amazons tree returned home to face FC Robo Queens in Lafia.

Before the loss, the Solid Babes have won four and drawn three of their previous seven matches.

They face another form team in FC Robo Queens. The Lagos Landladies have won seven of their last eight games with a 1-0 loss to Remo Stars Ladies in South West derby.

FC Robo Queens have won two of the last three head-to-head meetings with the other ending in 0-0 draw.

Dannaz Ladies vs Remo Stars Ladies

Lagos based Dannaz Ladies welcome Remo Stars Ladies to Onikan Stadium hoping to secure their third win of the season.

Their opponents have won four games including last week’s 4-0 thrashing of Delta Queens.

The South West derby between both sides have been dominated by Remo Stars Ladies on previous encounters.

The Ikenne based side won the last two Premiership encounters 7-0 over top legs during 2024/25 season.

Osun Babes vs Delta Queens

In Ile-Ogbo, Osun Babes faces Delta Queens for the first time in top flight since 2023, their last appearance in the Premiership.

The Imole Queens boasts of two wins, two draws and four losses from seven matches.

Their visitors, Delta Queens got a baptismal of fire under new head coach, Osazee Francis after a 4-0 loss to Remo Stars Ladies last week.

They have won three of their previous seven matches with a draw and three losses.
