By Wale Mustapha
Coach of South Africa men’s national team, Hugo Broos has expressed confidence of his team’s chances to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.
The Bafana Bafana have been drawn in the same group with the Super Eagles of Nigeria together with Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Benin Republic for the qualifier to the mundial to be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Coach Broos insistsis main focus is to secure the maximum points from their opening two qualifying games in November and he believes the triumphs would put more pressure on the much fancied Super Eagles.
“Now I am more satisfied. I believe that we can make two good games in November,” the Bafana tactician told media.
“What I’ve always said is it has to be six [referring to points against Benin and Rwanda] out of six and then to have a good Africa Cup of Nations.”
South Africa drew their international friendly games against Morocco and Ivory Coast.
The last time Bafana Bafana played at the World Cup was when they hosted the competition in 2010.
