2026 World Cup qualifiers: Rwanda appoints German Spittler as new head coach

The Federation of Rwanda Football Association, FERWAFA has confirmed the appointment of experienced German manager, Torsten Spittler Frank as their new head coach, nigeriafootball.ng reports.
Spittler had signed one-year contract with the Amavubi has replaced Carlos Alos Ferrer who resigned from his duties in August to take up the Belarusian national team job.
FERWAFA in a statement released on Wednesday is pleased to engage Spittler who has managed Bhutan and Nepal nations football teams in the past.
“FERWAFA is pleased to announce that Mr Torsten Spittler Frank has been appointed as the new head coach of men’s Rwanda national team,” the federation said.
Spittler’s immediate assignment will be the 2026 World Cup double header against Zimbabwe and South Africa which are both due in November.
Apart from South Africa and Zimbabwe, Rwanda will also face Nigeria, Benin and Lesotho in the group.
