9 goals in 12 games! Anam Imo scores in Piteå’s loss to Vittsjo

Nigeria forward Anam Imo scored the consolation goal as her Swedish Dammalsvenskan side, Piteå succumbed to a 3-1 loss to Vittsjö GIK Inna league encounter on Wednesday.
The host, Vittsjö had lost its previous game 2-1 to Linkopings FC ahead of the encounter while Piteå hold a two-match unbeaten run.
The first half was a cagey affair but the host found its rhythm after the restart with Hanna Ekengren breaking the deadlock for Vittsjö in the 57th minute of play.
Jutta Rantala set up Sandra Adolfsson for the second goal giving Thomas Mårtensson’s side a two-goal advantage in the 69th minute.
Two minutes later, Clara Marstedt was at the end of Katrina Gorry’s assist to settle the contest.
Imo reduced the deficit for Stellan Karlsson’s side from the penalty spot in the 80th minute and the goal increased her tally in the league to nine after 12 games.
The former Rosengard striker played the full 90 minutes for Pitea and received a yellow card in the 86th minute, while her compatriot, Faith Michael saw 78 minutes of action for Pitea and was replaced by Maja Green.
The loss ensured that Pitea remained in the second position on the log with 27 points after 13 games, four points behind leaders, BK Hacken, and a point better than third-placed Hammarby.
