By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

With few days to the first leg of the crucial Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers between Cameroon and Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Central African side has another injury blow.

This time around, former Athletico Madrid star, Ajara Ncjout Njoya will miss the two-legged third-round clash.

The 31-year-old former Inter Milan striker was one of six strikers that made coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck’s roster for the important duel but is set to miss the games.

According to kick442.com the Al Qadsiah of Saudi Arabia forward informed the medical team of the national team of her unavailability, with Coach Bisseck opting to hand a late call to current Guinness Super League top scorer, Kameni Alice Flore of FC Ebolowa.

The severity of Ajara’s injury is yet to be disclosed, but she is expected to watch the game in Douala on February 23 and 26 in Abuja from the treatment table.

The Injury of Ajara is a big blow for the team after another player, Monique Mgock had earlier suffered an injury which will also rule her out of the game.

Irrespective of this, Kameni is expected to bring her goal-scoring form from the domestic league to the table after converting 15 goals this season.

Rasheedat Ajibade’s goal separated both sides the last time out in the knockout stage of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The result sealed the Super Falcons qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
