Bassey and Onyeka to miss Nigeria’s friendly against Mali due to Injuries

Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles, will be without Calvin Bassey and Frank Onyeka for their upcoming friendly match against Mali on Tuesday, as confirmed by Nigeriafootball.ng.
Calvin Bassey, who missed the Super Eagles’ 2-2 friendly draw against the Black Stars of Ghana last Friday, sustained a knock on his right ankle and will not be available for the Mali encounter.
On the other hand, Frank Onyeka played the entire duration of the Ghana match but will also miss the Mali game due to injury.
Both players, who ply their trades in the English Premier League, did not participate in the team’s training session on Sunday as they returned to their respective clubs for further assessment and treatment of their injuries.
The remaining 21 players trained with the team on Sunday and are available for selection by Coach Finidi George for the Mali friendly.
The Super Eagles are utilizing these friendlies to prepare for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled for June of this year.
